History of CCCU
1960'S
1961 - Credit Union chartered by 20 United Telephone employees. Located in the Dean building at 602 State Street.
1962 - Credit Union operated by volunteers.
1963 - Credit Union starting to make small loans
up to $500.00!
1968 - Hired first part time employee. All transactions done by hand.
1970's
1975 - Credit Union went to batch processing - sent work to processor weekly.
1978 - $1,000,000 celebration! Also moved to the Port of Hood River, where United Telephone was leasing property.
1980's
1981 - Moved to the Keir Drug Store building.
1982- Moved to the Hershner and Bell building. Rates for car loans reached a record high of 18%! Rates on shares 15%!
1983 - Credit Union 105% loaned out! Those were the good old days!
1986 - Celebrated 25 years of service to Credit Union members.
1987- Moved to the Waucoma building. Installed an "in house" computer system. $5.000,000 in assets!
1989 - Share drafts introduced.
1990's
1991 -Visa Credit Card offered.
1992 -Added our first Select Employee Group: Hood River Memorial Hospital!
1994 - Credit Committee disbanded. Moved across the hall to a newly remodeled larger office space in the Waucoma building.
1995 - Credit Union rated as top benefit in Sprint Employee survey! Debit cards offered.
1996 - Celebrated $10,000,000 in assets at year-end! Telephone Teller installed.
1997 -We began offering Home Equity loans in September.
1998 - Became a State Chartered Credit Union. Name changed to Cascade Central Credit Union on May 1, 1998.
1999 - January our branch at 1206 12th opened.
2000's
2000 - Bought the building our branch was in, remodeled, and moved the whole office up to the heights in November.
2001 - The age of technology. We have a web site and on-line banking. $15,000,000 in Assets. 40 years of service to our members!!
